Get to know our Junior Sustainably Consultant, Molly Davies

Tell us about your experience, have you always been in the energy and sustainability sector, if not how did you get into it?

“I have recently started my career in the energy and sustainability sector as a Junior Sustainability Consultant, after graduating from a Geography Degree in Winchester. I joined Cook Brown Energy in January 2024 as I am drawn to the potential of addressing environmental challenges, the mitigation of environmental impacts, and the sector’s promotion of sustainable energy solutions.”

What is your main area of strength?

“I am always excited to take on a new challenge. For me, to learn and grow within my personal and professional environment, it is important that I am constantly expanding my skill set to be versatile in any situation. I believe this contributes to making me a well-rounded and adaptable individual who will see each project through to success.”

What is your favourite project that you’ve worked on?

“Working on Ashton Old Road, a new development of 30 apartments and 1 maisonette, has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. As a Junior Sustainability Consultant, I supported the completion of the SAP assessments for each dwelling. The size of the project required a lot of attention to detail with careful planning, but this opportunity allowed me to showcase my new skills”.

Are there any new methods in the energy and sustainability field that you find exciting, and if so, what interests you about them?

I have recently become increasingly aware towards the development of solar-powered microgrids. These systems use solar panel and battery storage for specific communities and buildings. Due to these microgrids being tailored to the specific needs of a community, this not only makes the system incredibly efficient but this always demonstrates a reduced reliance on traditional energy sources.”

What’s your view on the future of the energy industry?

I believe the energy industry is about to undergo major transformations in order to become more sustainable. I believe we will see a rise in the use of renewable energy sources, as this becomes everyone’s new ‘normal’, eventually completely eliminating traditional energy sources. We will see improved efficiency and accessibility, which will lead to a more diverse and resilient energy landscape.”

How long have you worked for Cook Brown Energy and why did you choose us?

“I joined the team at Cook Brown Energy in January 2024. From the beginning, Cook Brown Energy has provided constant positivity and support. I was particularly drawn to the company’s commitment to sustainability and renewable energy resources, and found the company to value my professional growth. Especially as a Junior employee, I always feel encouraged to share my ideas and to contribute towards the team.”

What do you do to relax outside of work? (hobbies, interests, holidays, events)

“Outside of work, I enjoy swimming as a form of relaxation and exercise. The sport has always been a big part of my life, due to my background in competitive swimming and swim teaching. I also love going on holiday to sunny destinations. This gives me the chance to relax and unwind, as well as explore new places.”
